Hanksville, Utah to Capitol Reef National Park Scenic Drive
Approaching Capitol Reef from the east on Hwy. 24, the byway takes you right to this national park's east entrance. The views along the way will not disappoint.
Begin in Hanksville at the junction of Hwys. 95 & 24. The mining and ranching town is in one of the most remote areas of the country with miles of mountains and deserts accessible only by back country roads, ATVs and horses.
Stop by the ghost town of Caineville to see more recent ruins before heading on to Capitol Reef National Park. Browse our photo gallery to see some of the views along the highway.
End of the Line: Capitol Reef National Park
This national park offers another set of colorful cliffs, natural bridges, stone arches and pioneer structures. Stop at the visitor center on the west side of the park to pick up a park map and purchase admission if you plan to drive the park’s own Scenic Drive Road.
At the end of the day, stay in Torrey, Utah at one of the many hotels and resorts bordering the park. Our favorite is the Broken Spur Inn.
