Just 15 minutes from the pink, orange and white hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park sits Under Canvas Bryce Canyon, a glamping dream. Upscale canvas tents sit on 750 acres of high mountain plains, bordering the pine-filled Dixie National Forest.
All Under Canvas Bryce Canyon tents come equipped with a private, en-suite bathroom with a shower, sink and flush toilet. Beautiful furnishings and king-sized beds made up with luxury linens create a cozy atmosphere. With a wood-burning stove inside your tent and a private deck to relax on, it’ll be hard to leave in the morning to explore the incredible nature that surrounds you.
After fueling up with complimentary coffee in the lobby, hike through the other-worldly hoodoos at Bryce Canyon National Park or bike through the incredible Red Canyon area of the Dixie National Forest. Under Canvas’ Adventure Concierge can help set you up for a day of exploring by booking activities and providing information on all the best things to see and do in the area.
There’s no need to go out in search of dining options. The on-site restaurant serves a locally inspired, seasonal menu on a huge outdoor patio, so you can take in views of the setting sun across the valley. You may even spot the elk and pronghorn that frequent this area.
Sitting at 7,600 feet in elevation, this camp is a reprieve from the rest of Utah’s summer heat. Evenings are deliciously cool, even in the height of July, so you’ll want to cozy up to the fire pit to enjoy complimentary s’mores after dinner and watch the stars come out. Bryce Canyon is an International Dark Sky Park and Under Canvas works hard to minimize light pollution to keep your view of the night sky unparalleled.
If you’re not ready to let go of the starry sky view, you’re in luck. If you book the Stargazer Tent, you’ll be treated to a night sky viewing window above your king-sized bed, so that you can watch the Milky Way arch overhead or, depending on the time of year, a meteor shower.
Other tent options include the Deluxe, which sleeps two, and the Suite, which sleeps four. Both of these options, along with the Stargazer, are available with an adjacent kids’ tent equipped with two twin beds, so the kids can have their own glamping experience while still being close enough to keep an eye on. New to the Bryce Canyon location is the Hoodoo Suite. If you’re traveling with a large group, this option is perfect. A four-person suite tent is connected to an adjacent tent with three twin beds by a u-shaped deck. Two en-suite bathrooms mean no fighting over the shower and a private fire pit gives you lots of time for s’mores and stargazing.
Sustainability is important to Under Canvas and reducing light pollution is just one of the ways the staff keeps Mother Nature in mind at their camps. Pull-chain showers and low-flow toilets help reduce water waste while solar energy use whenever possible helps reduce carbon emissions. The temporary camps are designed to flow with the natural landscape to minimize the need for earthmoving.
